A paper titled "Evaluation of Ryzen 5 and Core i7 Processors with SPEC CPU 2017" has been accepted for the presentation at the 13th Annual IEEE International Systems Conference , which will be held in Orlando, FL, in April.

SoutheastCon Paper on IEEE Xplore

The paper, "Energy Efficiency Study of Ryzen Microprocessor," which was presented at the IEEE SoutheastCon 2018 in April, has finally been published on IEEE Xplore with DOI: 10.1109/SECON.2018.8478962.

A paper titled "Energy Efficiency Study of Ryzen Microprocessor" has been accepted for the presentation at IEEE SoutheastCon 2018, held in St Petersburg, Florida. The presentation is scheduled in the "Applications and Interdisciplinary (I)" session (from 0800 to 0940) on April 20.

Pictures from ISIC 2014 Special Session

Our special session at the ISIC 2014, "Performance and Power Issues in Multi/Many Core Architecture" took place on December 12, 2014 at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore. There were five oral presentations (including a video presentation), all from different countries, and active discussions involving audiences. Special Session at ISIC 2014

As previously mentioned, we are going to organize a special session Performance and Power Issues in Multi/Many Core Architecture at ISIC 2014, which will take place in Singapore next month. The symposium schedule has been announced and our session will take place on December 12, from 1330 to 1500 in Room 4102 of Marina Bay Sands – Sands Expo and Convention Centre.

ISIC 2014

A paper titled "Case Study: Effectiveness of Dynamic Frequency Scaling on Server Workload" has been accepted for the presentation at The International Symposium on Integrated Circuits (ISIC) 2014.

ISIC-2014 will take place in Singapore in December and our paper will be presented within the special session Performance and Power Issues in Multi/Many Core Architecture.

ISPA 2014

The 12th IEEE International Symposium on Parallel and Distributed Processing with Applications (ISPA 2014) will take place in Milan, Italy, from August 26 to 28, 2014. It is currently calling for paper with the submission deadline at 11:59PM (UTC/GMT -11 hours) March 9, 2014.

Hitoshi Oi is serving for ISPA-14 as a Program Committee member.

IEEE SYSCON 2013 (2)

At SYSCON 2013, Hitoshi Oi met Dr Abdel Ejnioui. They were colleagues at a lab in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at University of South Florida while both were studying for the PhD degree. He was also visiting the University of Aizu in 2008 as a visiting researcher.

The paper presented at SYSCON 2013 (titled "Power-Efficiency Study using SPECjEnterprise2010," DOI: 10.1109/SysCon.2013.6549977) received the Best Paper Award (Honorable Mention).

Hitoshi Oi is headed to Orlando, Florida, to attend 2013 IEEE International Systems Conference (SYSCON) . He will present a paper titled "Power-Efficiency Study using SPECjEnterprise2010" (co-authored with Sho Niboshi) and will also chair a session Critical Systems (from 8am to 9:45am on Apl 18).

IEEE International Systems Conference

A paper, titled "Power-Efficiency Study using SPECjEnterprise2010" has been accepted for the presentation at the IEEE International Systems Conference , which will take place in April in Orlando, Florida.

The paper is co-authored by Hitoshi Oi and Sho Niboshi, and presents a case study of the power consumption and performance trade-offs in SPECjEnterprise2010, an industrial standard benchmark for the Java Application Server.

MASCOTS’12

Hitoshi Oi is headed to Arlington, VA (a city west of Washington D.C.), to attend MASCOTS’12. He will present a poster (co-authored with Sho Niboshi) and chair the Execution Tools session.

ISPA 2012

Hitoshi Oi visited Leganés to present a paper titled "Workload Analysis of SPECjEnterprise2010" (co-authored with Sho Niboshi) at the 10th IEEE International Symposium on Parallel and Distributed Processing with Applications (ISPA-12). ISPA-12 was held at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid in Leganés (south of Madrid), which included technical sessions and keynotes, and also short walking tours of the city of Leganés and the university campus. We also had a reception (with the mayor of the city of Leganés) and a social dinner at Realcafe Bernabeu.

ISPA 2012

Hitoshi Oi will chair the Track 2 Architectures and virtualization at ISPA 2012 ( detailed program in pdf), which takes place on July 12, 2012*.

ISPA 2012

A paper titled "Workload Analysis of SPECjEnterprise2010" has been accepted for presentation at the 10th IEEE International Symposium on Parallel and Distributed Processing with Applications (ISPA 2012). The paper is authored by Hitoshi Oi and Sho Niboshi and describes the workload behavior of each transaction type on the servers (application and database) of the SPECjEnterprise2010 system. ISPA 2012 will be held at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid in Madrid, Spain from 10 to 13 of July.

ICIMµ 2011

Hitoshi Oi attended the 5th International conference on Information Technology and Multimedia (ICIMµ2011) held at Universiti Tenaga Nasional, Malaysia from November 14 to 16. He presented a paper titled "Power-Performance Analysis of JVM Implementations" at ICIMµ2011.

Hitoshi Oi is going to serve as a program committee member for the 10th IEEE International Symposium on Parallel and Distributed Processing with Applications (ISPA-12) which will be held in Madrid, Spain in July 2012.

ICIMµ 2011

A paper authored by Hitoshi Oi is accepted for presentation at 2011 5th International conference on Information Technology and Multimedia (ICIMµ2011) , which will take place in Kuala Lunmpur, Malaysia in November. The paper is titled "Power-Performance Analysis of JVM Implementations" and compares two open-source implementations of JVM, OpenJDK and J9 in their performance and dynamic power consumption using SPECjvm2008.

HPCC-2011

Hitoshi Oi attended the International Conference on High Performance and Communications (HPCC) held in Banff, Canada and presented a paper at the Workshop on Sustainable HPC Cloud Computing (SHPCC '11) . The paper is titled as "Performance Modeling of a Consolidated Java Application Server" and is co-authored with Kazuaki Takahashi.

HPCC-2011

Hitoshi Oi is going to attend HPCC-2011, held in Banff, Canada from September 2 to 4, to present a paper at Sustainable HPC Cloud Computing (SHPCC'11) a workshop held within HPCC.

The paper is titled "Performance Modeling of a Consolidated Java Application Server" and is co-authored with Kazuaki Takahashi, a former student member of the group (now with Yahoo Japan). We will present the work-in-progress project of modeing the performance Java application server consolidated by Xen.
